On Saturday, October 18th, Montreal District #14 held their 6th Annual Fundraising in support of the Black Watch (Royal Highland Regiment) Cadets, Pipes and Drums at the Scottish Centre. Once again the evening was very successful with over 60 in attendance.
All monies from ticket sales and the raffle will be presented to the Black Watch Cadets, with the Executive Board matching our funds which is a very important revenue for the purchase of band equipment.
The Black Watch Cadets has been operating for over 50 years, providing boys and girls between the ages of 12 and 18 the opportunity to learn thepipes and drums, under the tutelage of Brian MacKenzie, former Pipe Major of the Black Watch Regimental Band. They meet every Saturday morning at the Black Watch Armoury in downtown Montreal. As they reach the age of 17 or 18, some of the members will have the honour of performing with Regimental Band, which is similar to a player from the Hamilton Bulldogs playing with the Montreal Canadiens.
